Olson
Robert
K Olson was a member of the original committee for a Community
of the Democracies, and brings to CCD many contacts in the
upper Midwest and a broad international background. As a career
officer in the Foreign Service, he had political/economic
assignments in Beirut, Libya, Central America, Paris, Geneva,
Ottawa and Rome, in Civil Operations (CORDS) in Vietnam, and
in UN affairs with the State Department. He has since devoted
himself to international education at the Universities of
Wisconsin and Minnesota as Executive Director of the Institute
of World Affairs at UW-Milwaukee. He has been a regular contributor
to the Foreign Service Journal, American-Arab Affairs, NATO
Review, Washington Report and other journals and authored
books on US foreign Policy, Europe and the Arab/Israel Peace
Process (sponsored by the US institute of Peace). Mr. Olson
has degrees in international relations from Carleton College,
the Graduate School in International Studies (University of
Denver) and Oxford.
