Daniel Puls

Daniel Puls serves as Chief of Advancement at International Relief & Development (IRD). Since 1998, IRD has provided more than $1.75 billion in humanitarian assistance with a mission to reduce the suffering of the world’s most vulnerable groups and provide tools and resources needed to increase their self-sufficiency. In addition to a full range of relief, community stabilization and development programs, IRD’s Infrastructure Unit builds roads, hospitals, schools, and water and sanitation systems in the Middle East and throughout the developing world.

At IRD, Dan is responsible for all private philanthropy activities and operations, including public-private partnerships, major gifts, and donor relations. He has more than 25 years of development, communications, and non-profit management experience.

He previously served as Director of Development at Freedom House and Chief Development Officer with the International Centre for Democratic Transition, Budapest Hungary. He was the Executive Director of the Carpathian Foundation USA, Senior Advisor for the Central Eurasia Leadership Academy, and Senior Director at the East-West Institute (EWI).

Dan serves on the board of various international nonprofit and service organizations. He is a member of the Society of International Business Fellows. He lives in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife Nicole and has 5 children.
