R. Huntley, Co-founder of CCD and Vice President Emeritus
Mr. Huntley
is a writer and lecturer on foreign affairs and author of Pax Democratica: A Strategy for the 21st Century, in which he proposed the creation of an international community of democracies.
He is a former president of the Atlantic Council of the US,
Fellow of the Battelle Memorial Institute and executive of
the Ford Foundation. Earlier in his professional life, he served
in the Foreign Service of the United States and was active in the democratic modernization of Germany and the early development of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the European Union. Mr. Huntley has
been a co-founder of many NGOs including the Atlantic Institute
of Paris, and the Standing Conference of Atlantic Organizations. Among his other published works is his recent autobiography, An Architect of Democracy: Building a Mosaic of Peace (2006).
