David Burrows
David Burrows is Provost and Dean of the Faculty at Lawrence University in Appleton, WI. His former positions include Dean of the College at Beloit College (WI) and Professor of Psychology at Skidmore College (NY). His research interests focus on the goals of liberal education and the relationship of these goals to particular teaching pedagogies. His training is in cognitive psychology and his previous research projects include theoretical models of memory retrieval and the effects of memory overload. He has written recently on the need to develop clear ideas of goals for study abroad and the ways that study abroad can enhance the aims of liberal education. He is also interested in the ways that liberal learning can help create citizen-leaders who can enhance the strength of the democratic process.
