Tom
Farer
Tom Farer
is Dean of the Graduate
School of International Studies of the University of Denver.
He is also the former President of the Inter-American Commission
of Human Rights of the Organization of American States and
of the University of New Mexico. Additionally, Farer
is Honorary Professor of Peking University and permanent Guest
Professor of People's University and Director of the Center
for China-United States Cooperation. In 1993, Farer
served as legal consultant to the UN operation in Somalia.
Within the U.S. Government Farer has served as special
assistant to the General Counsel of the Department of Defense
and to the Assistant Secretary of State for Inter-American
Affairs. He has published eleven books and over ninety
articles concerning issues of international and comparative
law, foreign policy, human rights and international institutions.
Farer serves on the Board of Editors of the American Journal
of International Law and the Human rights Quarterly and most
recently published Transnational Crime in the Americas.
Tom Farer received his J.D. from Harvard University.
