Dr.
Gerhard Mally
Dr. Mally
joined ACDA as a Foreign Affairs Officer in 1976 and has been
working with Conventional Arms Control, Bureau of Arms Control,
Department of State since 1999. He has also been in the Military
Affairs Bureau (1976/78) and in US Arms Export Controls (1979-1984).
Dr. Mally additionally has been an action officer for the
UN General Assembly/ First Committee and UN Disarmament Commission
as well as a member of the US Delegation in Multilateral Affairs
Bureau/ISA 1985-89 and Preparations for Third Biological Weapons
Convention Review Conference (1990-91). Furthermore, he has
participated in European Security Negotiations (1992-98).
Dr. Mally was born in Vienna, Austria where received a law
degree (Dr.Juris) from University of Vienna in 1959 after
which he pursued a Ph.D in international relations from University
of Pennsylvania and received his degree in 1964. Prior to
his government career, Dr. Mally taught political science
as an assistant and associate professor at undergraduate and
graduate institutions including, inter alia, Georgetown, University
of Virginia, and American University (1966-76).
