Mongolia
-- Nambariin Enkhbayar Elected President
We congratulate
the people of Mongolia on their successful Presidential election.
We also congratulate the Speaker of the Parliament, Nambariin
Enkhbayar, on his election to the presidency and look forward
to working with him to further promote democracy and economic
reform.
The U.S.
Embassy fielded nine teams of poll watchers and the International
Republican Institute fielded seven more. Those teams together
observed more than 100 polling stations in Ulaanbaatar and
in rural areas around Mongolia. The election represents another
positive step in Mongolia's developing democracy.
