The Convening Group of the Community of Democracies expresses its deep concern for the unjustified arrest of Mrs. Aung San Suu Kyi, democratic leader of Burma and Nobel Peace Price Winner. This repressive and anti-democratic action has lead to an international condemnation. We demand her immediate release and that of others Burmese democratic political leaders. All of them have been unfairly detained.

Likewise, we reiterate the previous appeal to the military authorities of Burma to promptly re-establish a transparent process to return to democracy and respect for fundamental human rights.
