How Bush Could Fight Tyranny
By Jackson Diehlin the Washington Post, January 30, 2005

Jackson Diehl’s article offers President Bush advice to actually creating a feasible plan to foreign policy instead of addressing the ‘outline of a global U.S. campaign against tyranny as merely an ideal’. The plan starts by focusing on the crucial conflict areas of Pakistan, Egypt and Russia, where he notes the staunch challenges of reform are present. However, instead of creating new wars or shattering relations with allies, the president should tackle the democratic reform that would assist the abovementioned countries. For instance, Diehl proposes developing programs to aid secular civil society groups’ promotion of democracy that would conversely support reform from within the country. The strategy has proven success in the Ukraine as the author points out, thus illustrating clear results of his foreign policy plan.
