UN Office of Migration and Refugee Services Receives Archbishop Romero Human Rights Award

Ambassador Johnny Young, CCD board member, will receive the 2010 Archbishop Oscar Romero Human Rights Award on behalf of the United Nations Office of Migration and Refugee Services, as executive director of this UN agency.

This prestigious award, established by the Human Rights Studies program at the University of Dayton, Ohio, "commemorates the ministry and martyrdom of the slain Salvadoran Archbishop and honors an individual or organization whose work has contributed significantly to the promotion of the inherent dignity of all persons and the alleviation of the suffering of the human family."

Past recipients include Dr. Bernard Kouchner, co-founder of the nobel-prize winning Médecins Sans Frontières, Juan Mendez, UN Special Advisor on the Prevention of Genocide and many others.
