03 February 2006
An editorial of the February 3 New York Times voices the paper’s concern about the U.S. role in Haiti’s instability. Referring to the paper’s investigative report of January 30th the editorial argues that the United States, through the actions of the International Republican Institute (IRI), contributed to Haiti’s turbulence two years ago noting that “Haiti is worse off today.” It expresses hope that the elections this week mark the opportunity to move forward.
