Introduction and Participants
The second Asia Roundtable took place in New Delhi, May 18-19, 2007 and focused solely on the theme of "Poverty, Development and Democracy in Asia." It was designed to complement CD's March 29-30 Bamako Seminar sponsored by the Community of Democracies on "Democracy and Development: Poverty as a Challenge to Democratic Governance." It was attended by 51 civil society activists, academics, journalists and development officials from national governments and international agencies from 17 countries: Japan, Nepal, India, Indonesia, Mali, Mongolia, Philippines, Bangladesh, Republic of Korea, Cambodia, Vietnam, Taiwan, Burma and the United States.
