Lynne K. Zusman

Lynne K. Zusman is a graduate of Bryn Mawr College cum laude with Honors in political science, and the Yale Law School.  Ms. Zusman was a Trial Attorney, Section Chief, Branch Director, and Special Litigation Counsel in the U.S. Department of Justice (Criminal Division and Civil Division) and in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, 1974-1981.  Ms. Zusman served as Deputy General Counsel for Litigation in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services from 1981-1983.  She then served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the Allegheny Beverage Corporation, 1983-1984.  In 1984 she entered private practice with the firm of Rollinson and Zusman, Alexandria, Virginia.  Since 1986 she has been the President of the law firm of Lynne K. Zusman and Associates, P.C. in Washington, D.C., engaging in the general practice of law including litigation.  She is a member of the Bars of D.C., MD, VA, and California (inactive), and has been a member of the American Bar Association since 1974, where she has served on the Advisory Committee to the Standing Committee on Law and National Security for numerous terms, since 1982, including presently; and has been a Council Member of the Administrative Law Section as well as Chair and Co-Chair (presently) of the Section’s Committee on Defense and National Security and Committee on the Department of Homeland Security.  Ms. Zusman has also been an active member of the Federal Bar Association including Chair of the Administrative Law Section, 1985-1989, and Member Board of Governors of the Maryland Chapter, 1992-present.  Ms. Zusman has designed, moderated, and appeared on numerous programs throughout her association career in the ABA and FBA.

In 2005, Ms. Zusman was honored to be inducted by the ABA Section on Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice as a Section Fellow; to develop and serve as Co-Chair of that Section’s first Annual Homeland Security Law Institute to be held in Washington, DC on January 20, 2006; and by appointment to serve on the Standing Committee on Law and National Security Subcommittee on Katrina, repting to the ABA president in February, 2006. Ms. Zusman was elected to the Board of the Council for a Community of Democracies in December of 2005.
